CGV to screen 3 National Theater of Korea works

CGV said it will hold the 'CGV X National Theater of Korea Cinema Tour' with the National Theater of Korea at CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall from August 4 to 18, 2026. The special screening program will present 3 repertory works from the National Theater of Korea on cinema screens, with all seats offered free through a lottery.

CGV said the program is part of 'Beside You NTOK,' the National Theater of Korea's project for filmed performances. The program will show the works through CGV's large-screen and sound environment and was planned to offer a way to encounter performing arts in a more familiar setting.

The first screening is the National Changgeuk Company of Korea's 'Changgeuk Farewell My Concubine' at 7 p.m. on August 4, 2026, CGV said. The work combines the movement of Peking opera with the sound of changgeuk to portray the tragic love of Xiang Yu and Yu Ji.

The National Dance Company of Korea's 'Book of the Dead' is scheduled for 7 p.m. on August 11, 2026, CGV said. The work, inspired by 'The Tibetan Book of the Dead,' expresses a 49-day journey after death through Korean dance, music and video.

CGV said the children's music concert 'Entongi's Nursery Rhyme Land 2' will screen at 2 p.m. on August 18, 2026. The performance lets audiences enjoy familiar children's songs in traditional Korean music with Entongi, a National Theater of Korea character, for children and family audiences.

CGV said post-screening talks with creative staff and cast members will follow 'Changgeuk Farewell My Concubine' and 'Book of the Dead.' Attendees at those screenings will receive special tickets, while viewers of 'Entongi's Nursery Rhyme Land 2' will receive a picture diary and a colored-pencil set.

In a Q1 and A1 FAQ section, CGV repeated that the Cinema Tour will screen 3 National Theater of Korea works: 'Changgeuk Farewell My Concubine,' 'Book of the Dead' and 'Entongi's Nursery Rhyme Land 2.'
