CGV opens AI media art contest on traditional art
CGV said the contest invites AI-based reinterpretations of Korean traditional art, with prize money totaling 2,600 ten-thousand won.

CGV said on the 8th that it will hold Moving Korean Painting: AI Media Art Contest, a media art contest focused on AI reinterpretations of Korean traditional art. According to CGV, the contest carries total prize money of 2,600 ten-thousand won.
CGV said the competition is being held as part of a Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Korea Creative Content Agency project to develop AI-based online platform technology for producing and servicing high-quality traditional-art media art. The company said it plans to work with a media art technology and content specialist to find traditional-art content, foster emerging creators with potential and build a sustainable AI media art creation ecosystem.
According to CGV, the contest theme is media art that uses AI technology to reinterpret Korean paintings based on traditional arts, as well as the Korean stories and meanings contained in them, from the creator's own perspective. Anyone interested in traditional arts may apply, either individually or as a team of up to 5 people.
CGV said entrants must submit a work key visual, a media art video production proposal and a storyboard by August 14. Final-round participants will receive credits for Widai, an AI platform specialized in traditional arts, and expert mentoring.
CGV said selected works will receive opportunities including screenings on CGV-operated media such as K-POP LIVE in Samseong-dong, and placement on LED.ART and aiwith.art. Details on how to enter and the contest schedule can be checked through the contest post on the design and creator platform Notefolio, according to CGV.
Lee Ki-taek, head of CGV's DX Business Team, said, 'AI can become a creative tool that expands new expressive possibilities for traditional art.' Lee also said, 'Through this contest, we hope to discover fresh emerging creators, and hope content combining AI and traditional art will be used across various media platforms and contribute to creating a new cultural content ecosystem.'
