Actor Jung Il-woo said he was the starting point of Dalgona coffee, a drink described as having sparked a global trend.

Jung made the comment on the YouTube channel Al-Ddal-Cham in a video released on July 21, while looking back on his appearance on KBS 2TV's Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant. Fellow guest Ahn Jae-hyun said, 'The drink Jung Il-woo first showed during the coronavirus period was Dalgona coffee.'

Jung replied, 'At the time, I did interviews with The New York Times and BBC, and it also reached No. 1 among Google's worldwide search terms.' Asked about regret over a patent or his name not being highlighted, he added, 'I did not think about that.'

In 2020 on Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant, Jung introduced a recipe made by whipping instant coffee, based on a drink from a cafe in Macao. The drink became known as Dalgona coffee and took hold during the global pandemic period as a meme and trend.
