Hyolyn explains open-heel choreography for ChecK

Hyolyn discussed why she chose a higher-difficulty open-heel choreography style for her new album during an interview held at a cafe in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of July 16.

For the title track ChecK, Hyolyn performs all of the choreography in open heels that expose the instep. She had often worn ankle-strap heels before, but this time selected less stable open heels to show a different visual impression onstage.

Hyolyn said she thought of open heels while considering how to show improvement from her previous work. She said, 'I thought the image seen onstage was as important as the music. I chose the shoes after considering even the way the instep would be clearly visible.'

While preparing the album and stage concept, Hyolyn said she recalled the passion she had as a trainee and early in her debut period. She said, 'I think the time as a trainee preparing to become a singer is when you practice dancing and singing the most,' adding that listening again to music she enjoyed then made her look back on whether she had briefly forgotten that passion and drive.

Hyolyn said remembering the period when she was chasing something with strong effort made her feel good. She said she wanted to share the nostalgia and memories she felt through that music in the new song, while carrying the energy of her early debut days and showing a slightly more comfortable version of herself now.

Hyolyn is scheduled to release her fourth mini-album OriginaLyn through various music sites on July 22 at 6 p.m.
