The Journey to Gyeongju sets August 26 release
Kim Mi-jo's first commercial film follows a four-member mother-and-daughter family on a revenge trip after an 8-year wait.

The Journey to Gyeongju, directed by Kim Mi-jo, has set an August 26 theatrical release and unveiled bright-toned posters. The film is described as a family revenge story about a four-member mother-and-daughter family that leaves on a trip for Gyeongju, the youngest daughter who did not return from a school trip, after waiting 8 years.
One poster shows the family inside a yellow van. Ok-sil, the mother played by Lee Jung-eun, prays while holding a rosary; eldest daughter Jang-joo, played by Gong Hyo-jin, holds the wheel and looks around; second daughter Young-joo, played by Park So-dam, tests a disposable camera for an alibi; and third daughter Dong-joo, played by Lee Yeon, sleeps by herself.
The scene appears to be a family trip, but a red human-shaped silhouette between them and poster text saying the murderer has been kidnapped point to the film's revenge plot. A second poster shows the mother and daughters smiling for a commemorative photo at Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond, described as one of Gyeongju's representative historic sites.
In the second image, they wear matching FAMILY group T-shirts and pose together. The poster contrasts the look of a family outing with a revenge plan prepared over 8 years, and its message says the trip is an alibi, the purpose is revenge, and the murderer has been kidnapped.
The Journey to Gyeongju is Kim Mi-jo's first commercial film after her debut feature Gull. Before its release, the film was invited to the Hawaiʻi International Film Festival and the Florence Korea Film Fest.
