Hoyeon says Hope is a theater experience

As of July 21, Hoyeon had recently appeared on Bae Cheol-soo's Music Camp with director Na Hong-jin and emphasized that Hope, the film in which she appears, should be watched in a movie theater.

Asked why the film needs to be seen in theaters, Hoyeon said it is 'a film you cannot miss in theaters.' She added that director Bong Joon Ho had called it 'a film whose madness and spirit are insane.'

Hoyeon said, 'With madness and spirit, we really took on a challenge. The fact that we attempted such a bold and fresh challenge has enormous meaning.' She also said she believes the film's energy can be experienced 'with the whole body' only in a theater.

Hoyeon said some people prefer watching alone at home, but added that she strongly agrees with the idea that going to a theater is an experience shared with other audience members. She said, 'Hope is a film that should be experienced with the people watching it together.'

Hope is Na Hong-jin's first new film in 10 years after The Wailing(2016). The sci-fi action film follows Bum-seok, the police chief at an outpost in Hope Harbor, a port village near the Demilitarized Zone, after young men from the village report that a tiger has appeared there.

Hwang Jung-min plays Bum-seok, and Zo In-sung and Hoyeon also appear in the film. Michael Fassbender, Alicia Vikander, Taylor Russell and Cameron Britton are also part of the cast.

Hope surpassed two million cumulative admissions on July 19, its 5th day after opening.
