Billboard said GOLDEN HOUR: Part.5 is the 24th K-pop album or EP to top its flagship albums chart in just over eight years.

ATEEZ returned K-pop to No. 1 on the all-genre Billboard 200 as its new EP GOLDEN HOUR: Part.5 topped the chart, according to Billboard. Billboard said the release is the 24th album or EP by a K-pop act to reach No. 1 on its flagship albums chart in just over eight years.
According to Billboard, BTS was the first K-pop act to top the Billboard 200 in June 2018. The article said ATEEZ reached No. 1 after the Recording Academy announced on June 16 that it is adding best Asian pop music performance as a new category for the 69th annual Grammy Awards, set for Feb. 7.
Billboard reported that the new Grammy category is in the Pop & Dance/Electronic Field. Eligible recordings include contemporary popular music originating from or widely recognized within Asian markets, including K-pop, J-pop and C-pop, according to the article.
Billboard described ATEEZ as an eight-member boy band formed by KQ Entertainment that debuted in October 2018. The article said the group has three No. 1s on the Billboard 200, along with three No. 2s, two No. 3s and a No. 7, for nine top 10 albums or EPs in total.
Stray Kids leads K-pop acts on the Billboard 200 with eight No. 1 titles, according to Billboard. BTS follows with seven No. 1 titles, while ATEEZ has three; SuperM, BLACKPINK, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, NewJeans and TWICE each have one No. 1 to date.
Billboard said BLACKPINK became the first female K-pop act to reach No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Born Pink in 2022. The article noted that TWICE has nine members, Stray Kids and ATEEZ each have eight, BTS and SuperM each have seven, TOMORROW X TOGETHER and NewJeans each have five, and BLACKPINK has four.
No K-pop solo artists, duos or trios have topped the Billboard 200 to date, according to Billboard. The article said K-pop acts have had multiple No. 1 albums on the chart in every year since 2018 except 2021, when there were none, and that 2023 had the highest total to date with five.
