Young Posse's 'Mr 2026' remakes KARA, and viewers are split
Viewers tied Young Posse's 'Mr 2026' to KARA's 'Mister,' praising its hyperpop energy and the group's rapping, while others wanted a more original direction and criticized the MV's AI visuals.

1theK's official music video for YOUNG POSSE (영파씨) drew attention as a reinterpretation of KARA's "Mister" (미스터), retitled "Mr 2026," and much of the comment section centered on that lineage. The most-liked reactions framed it warmly: one viewer imagined "KARA grinning ear to ear" (카라 함박웃음 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ) at the remake, while another wrote that the track "has a hyperpop feel, and I like it." Several commenters praised the group's overall identity, with one saying "this kind of B-minor concept really suits them — the song and the MV both have character," before adding, "when are they going to blow up?"
Other reactions were more divided. Some viewers debated the production, with one calling it "too System Seoul (시스템서울)," and a fan of the original noting a generational split — "people who know the original go, 'huh? Mister??' while newcomers go, 'oh, this is fresh.'" A few pushed back on the direction itself: one commenter wished the group would "stop straddling styles and go straight, like their debut XXL," and another asked them to "stop with the AI," saying they missed "the old CGI Young Posse." Still, commenters repeatedly tied the release to the group's roots at DSP, with one writing, "it's DSP, so they've got to live up to being KARA's direct juniors," and praise for the rapping recurred — one viewer who found them through Beautiful Nerd (뷰티풀너드) said "Young Posse really deserves to do well; their rap is genuinely good."
Some viewers placed the cover within a wider trend of newer acts revisiting second-generation groups. One English-language comment welcomed it: "Great that the young generation honour some of the amazing 2nd Gen groups... Not many days ago RESCENE 'Pretty Girl' and now Young Posse." Another noted the pattern plainly — "from RESCENE, now Young Posse cover KARA." A few kept it brief, with one commenter simply writing that they were "just grateful" for the release.
