Moon Jeong-hee shares indoor lunge workout photos
Actor Moon Jeong-hee posted gym photos on social media, while public exercise guidance and a sports medicine study described lunge form and effects.

Actor Moon Jeong-hee shared several workout photos on her social media account, writing, 'I was happy to greet the blue sky before the rain, and today it feels very pleasant to exercise indoors.'
The photos show Moon concentrating on exercise in an indoor space that appears to be a gym. In one image, she holds dumbbells in both hands while taking a lunge position.
A post on the Seoul Metropolitan Government Life Information Portal about lower-body strength training says lunges begin with the feet about shoulder-width apart, the upper body upright and one foot stepping far forward. The post says the rear knee is then bent slowly toward the floor until the front knee reaches 90 degrees.
The same guidance says the person should stand back up and return to the starting position when the front knee reaches 90 degrees. It says repeated lunge practice can help build lower-body strength and a balanced physique.
A research team led by Professor Lee Ji-hoo at Konkuk University(건국대학교) Graduate School of Sports Medicine and Science(스포츠의학과학대학원) published a study in the Journal of the Korean Society of Sports Medicine(대한스포츠의학회지). The study was titled 'Effects of an 8-week lunge exercise on lower-extremity muscle function and balance according to support surface in middle-aged women.'
According to the study, regular lunge training for 8 weeks significantly increased lower-limb muscle mass and function. The research team also said performing lunges on an unstable support surface was more effective for reducing body fat percentage and made a significant contribution to improving body balance.
