Song Jin-woo shows card valued at 2,200 ten-thousand-won units

Actor Song Jin-woo showed a collectible valued at thousands of ten-thousand-won units per card on SBS entertainment program Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 — You Are My Destiny, which aired on the 14th.

The broadcast featured the daily life of Song and his wife from Japan, Minami. Song showed items from his collecting hobby, including suits, shoes and imported cigarettes, then brought out the box he called his No. 1 treasure, which held cards featuring photos of basketball stars.

Song said, 'You may think of them as just scraps of paper, but some cards have values in the tens of hundred-million-won units or hundreds of hundred-million-won units.' Former basketball player Seo Jang-hoon agreed, saying, 'For cards of famous players, one of those can go for 50 to 60 hundred-million-won units.'

Song said he had 3,000 to 4,000 or more cards of basketball player James Williams alone and also said he owned a card with only 1 copy in the world. When Minami tried to touch a card case, Song said he would take it out himself because he was worried it might get scratched, adding, 'If it gets even a small scratch, the price drops sharply.'

Song later visited a collectibles shop described on the show as a place for enthusiasts. After an expert there checked the market price of one card, the card was confirmed to have a value of 2,200 ten-thousand-won units.

A staff member at the collectibles shop said, 'These are cards I would want to pass down even to my child.'
