Dongkung viewers split over the creature Kkeomeoksari

A Netflix Korea clip introducing Kkeomeoksari (꺼먹살이), a black-pig creature that feeds on "yang energy" in the series Dongkung (동궁), drew a wave of comments centered on the character's looks. The most-liked reactions leaned overwhelmingly toward cuteness, with one viewer writing "Kkeomeoksari is ridiculously cute, oh my" (꺼먹살이 미친 귀여움 하). Another top comment turned the design into a food comparison: "Its face looks like a puffed-rice snack and its body looks like a black-sesame rice cake.. cute 😂" (얼굴은 뻥튀기 같고 몸은 흑임자떡 같네.. 귀엽). Others piled on in the same direction, with remarks like "So cute I could die" and a note that "it waddles around going 'kkyu~' and it's just so cute."

Not everyone was won over. A pair of highly rated comments pushed back with "Ugh.. why did they even put that thing in???", and one viewer mixed both reactions at once, saying "Why put this thing in? It's so cute though." Several commenters also defended the creature's role, one insisting "anyway, the little thing is good-hearted." The talking point spread further when a viewer offered background, writing that Kkeomeoksari is "originally a black pig offered as a sacrifice in Hwanghae-do shamanic rituals... it loves to eat and becomes a sacrifice in place of humans.. it's pitiful and heartbreaking." Fans of the character went as far as calling it "the strongest in the Dongkung universe" and asking that it return "just like this" in a potential second season.
