KBS said its two channels ranked 1st and 2nd among live national TV broadcasts in the first half of this year. The broadcaster said the result came from its analysis of national viewer trends from Nielsen Korea.

According to KBS, KBS 1TV accounted for 68 ten-thousands and 3 thousand people out of 772 ten-thousands of TV viewers nationwide in the first half. KBS said that was an 8. 9% channel share, ranking 1st among live broadcasts.

KBS said KBS 2TV followed in 2nd place with 41 ten-thousands and a thousand viewers and a 5. 32% share. MBC, which ranked 2nd in the first half of last year, fell to 3rd with a 5. 31% share, while SBS and JTBC placed 4th and 5th, according to KBS.

KBS said the largest portion of all TV viewers, 14%, watched non-live broadcasts, meaning VOD. The broadcaster said KBS 1TV was maintaining stable competitiveness as a central channel for live viewing while non-live viewing consumption was expanding.

KBS also said KBS 2TV's channel competitiveness rose due to major events including the World Cup and the performance of major programs. KBS said its main news program, KBS News 9, recorded a 7. 3% national rating in the first half and maintained 1st place in the news category.

KBS added that it rose to 1st place in cumulative YouTube views with a 20. 8% share.

Even as non-live viewing consumption expands, KBS 1TV is continuing stable competitiveness as a central channel for live viewing.
