Jang Seo-hee's 'Trap of Desire' teaser previews revenge plot

KBS 2TV's new daily drama 'Trap of Desire' is scheduled to premiere on August 10, and its first teaser released on July 21 presented the setup and atmosphere of the series. The drama is described as a revenge story about a woman whose life is taken after a false murder accusation and who confronts immense desire.

The teaser begins with Joo Mi-ran, played by Jang Seo-hee, starting to covet another person's life. Watching the Cheongma Group couple Kim Jeong-sun, played by Yoon Hae-young, and Kang Young-hoon, played by Yoo Tae-woong, Joo deepens her longing for the life she does not have. In the teaser, Joo says, 'It was mine. All of it. Everything. How do you think it would feel to have your life stolen? I have to take it back.'

Joo's false life, which she believed was complete, begins to shake when she becomes entangled again with her old friend Park Hee-jung, played by Seo Yu-jeong. Park is shown as someone who knows Joo's past, including that she had given birth. Park's daughter Go Eun-seol, played by Jeon Hye-won, and Cheongma Group's only heiress Kang Hae-ra, played by Joo Sae-byeok, are presented as further outcomes of Joo's choices, pointing to the collapse that her fabricated life can bring.

The production team said the first teaser was intended to show Joo Mi-ran's intense desire and the fates of people tied together by it. The team added, 'Amid a meticulous psychological battle and unpredictable developments, the drama will give viewers thrilling tension and catharsis.'

'Trap of Desire' is directed by Lee Dae-kyung, whose credits include 'Youth of May' and 'Drama Special 2023: Shadow Confession'. Gu Ji-won, credited for 'Bravo, My Life' and 'Home for Summer', wrote the script. The project also marks Jang Seo-hee's return to KBS after 12 years, with her earlier leading roles including 'Miss Mermaid' and 'Temptation of Wife'.
