KBS reported that the National Human Rights Commission of Korea(국가인권위원회) found in 2026 that Ewha Womans University's cancellation last year of an on-campus venue rental contract with a queer film festival amounted to discrimination.

Ewha Womans University canceled the contract on the grounds that the rental conflicted with the university's founding principles, the commission said.

The commission said that even a school established by a religious organization must not cite founding principles or university autonomy to exclude or discriminate against social minorities.

The commission also recommended that the president of Ewha Womans University prepare measures to prevent the same situation from recurring because of a specific set of values or sexual orientation.
