KBS reported in 2026 that a skydiver descending by parachute with a large U.S. flag attached appeared headed for a normal landing before the flag caught on a tree.

According to KBS, the snag caused the skydiver to lose direction and fall during a U.S. Independence Day event. People at the scene screamed after being startled by the situation, KBS said.

KBS said the skydiver did not fall toward the people watching, but landed on top of a tent. After the landing, the skydiver went up onto the stage on his own and greeted the crowd.

The audience responded with cheers, according to KBS. KBS described the skydiver as not having been injured.
