Lee Hyun-yi's family says camp lodging was canceled

Model Lee Hyun-yi and her husband, Hong Sung-ki, said a lodging booking platform unilaterally canceled their reservation ahead of their son's departure for a gifted camp in the United States.

On the 14th, Hong wrote on social media that lodging reserved four months earlier for their child's camp was 'unilaterally canceled 3 days before departure because of the host's circumstances.' He added that nearby similar lodging was already unavailable and that prices had risen for the places that looked most similar.

Hong said the shared lodging platform states that it helps with rebooking when a host cancels, but told him there is an internal support cap and that he would have to pay more. He wrote, 'What are we supposed to do?'

On the 15th, Hong said the replacement lodging had also closed because the promised credit was not provided. He wrote, 'Now we have nowhere to go. It is right away in 2 days.'

A photo shared with the post showed a message from the platform. The platform said another guest had booked the alternative lodging, so it could not provide the promised benefit, and that the lodging would be available for booking from the 23rd.

Lee and Hong's eldest son was accepted to the Center for Talented Youth(CTY) summer camp, a gifted education program under Johns Hopkins University in the United States. Lee said the camp participation fee was 'about 8300 dollars, an amount close to 1300 ten-thousand-won units when converted into Korean currency.'
