Jo Hye-ryun shares routine after losing 8kg
The comedian said on her YouTube channel that she stopped eating snacks and drinking, while adding protein and basic workouts to her routine.

Newsis reported that comedian Jo Hye-ryun, 56, discussed how she has maintained her weight without rebound after losing 8kg. In a July 9 video on her YouTube channel, Jo spoke about the eating habits she used while appearing in the play 'Educating Rita' and said, 'I do not eat snacks, and I quit drinking.'
According to the report, Jo also emphasized protein intake. She said, 'As people get older, their hair falls out more easily, and because most hair is made of protein, a lack of protein makes hair weaker and thinner.' Newsis reported that she pays attention to protein in her daily diet, including eating boiled eggs.
Jo also described her rule on late-night food, according to Newsis. She said, 'It is evening, and you are feeling a little hungry. You should not cook ramen.' The report said she instead fills hunger mainly with protein when she wants something to eat.
Newsis reported that Jo also shared her workout routine. She said, 'I base it on squats, lunges and planks, and when I have extra time or am waiting for something, I do the kind of running in place that soccer players do.'
Experts cited by Newsis said snacks are high in calories but low in satiety, and often contain refined carbohydrates and fat, making overeating easier. The report also cited a U.S. National Institutes of Health research team that had 20 adults eat ultra-processed and unprocessed diets for 2 weeks each; when eating the ultra-processed diet, participants consumed about 500kcal more per day and gained an average of 0.9kg.
Dr. Kevin Hall, who led the study, said, 'Limiting intake of ultra-processed foods can be an effective strategy for preventing and treating obesity.' Newsis linked Jo's example to eating-habit management, protein intake and steady exercise in weight maintenance.
