Lee Do-hyun joins Joseon-era film Nambeol
HYBE Media Corp said Lee Do-hyun will play Bokyung, the right-hand man to Lee Byung-hun's punitive-force leader Im Eok.
Lee Do-hyun has joined the film Nambeol, HYBE Media Corp said on July 20. The company said Lee will play Bokyung in the project.
Nambeol is set in the early Joseon period and depicts 9 warriors traveling to Tsushima to rescue captives taken by Japanese pirates, the company said. Bokyung, Lee's character, stands at the front of a punitive force against the pirates and is the right-hand man to Im Eok, the unit leader played by Lee Byung-hun.
Go Youn-jung will play Aeryeong, who lost her family in a Japanese pirate attack and enters the battlefield to save her younger sibling detained on Tsushima, the company said.
Lee Mo-gae will direct Nambeol. Lee previously worked as cinematographer on The Spring of Seoul, Exhuma and Hunt, and this is his first directing project.
HYBE Media Corp said Nambeol is in preproduction and plans to begin filming in the second half of the year.
