In a 930 News segment dated 2026. 07. 13, KBS said a recent two-day short course in Busan drew many young applicants for training as stage technology specialists. The course recorded a 6-to-1 competition ratio and selected 22 young people for on-site instruction.

KBS introduced the musical Wicked as an example of stage direction technology in use. The segment said the production includes varied costume changes and more than 50 scene changes, and that such immersion is made possible by stage direction technology.

The training brought together young people seeking to enter the field. KBS said they learned lighting technology, sound technology and stage technology, applying concepts from their minds to an actual stage.

The participants also watched a concert that used the stage direction techniques they had studied. A cultural technology student at Changwon National University said, 'People on stage, people behind the stage and people watching the stage are all in one space while spending their time. I think that is appealing.'

Senior professionals shared field experience and information with the trainees. A lighting director at Busan Cultural Center said, 'We also think we should make efforts to train personnel, and we feel a sense of duty and responsibility.'

Busan Cultural Center is preparing a 12-week training program for professional performance venue personnel. KBS said the center is also considering ways to develop the Yeongnam region into an education hub for stage technology.
